My Official Favorite Superuseless Superpower (or until I find another favorite)

SUPERUSELESS SUPERPOWER: NO-GOliath
Superhuman size. Totally human feet. Upon engaging the No-Go-liath power, the upper 95% of our superhero swells to impressive size. Shortly thereafter, he topples like Nick Nolte at an open-bar charity ball. Does anyone have a XXXXXL Hoveround?

Gotta love Superuseless Superpowers

Facebook is now for Everybody

It seems like Facebook is becoming for everybody. When it first started out, it was limited to college students and you had to have a college email address to join. Then it opened it’s doors to anybody and all youth started joining. Then, older people started to get into the act since it’s simple easy to use nature appealed to them.

Then even older people joined. Not that I’m calling my mom old, but she is on Facebook now. If you had told me five years ago that my mom would be on Facebook, I would have laughed. But yet, there she is. My friend. It’s kind of cool in a way. Some others would be inclined to disagree. There’s an article about the explosion of the older demographic on Facebook after the jump. Enjoy.

BLAH-GOY-A-VICH!

Blagojevich was ousted today. I can’t say it was a surprise. The best article that I’ve seen on the story is the one below. I love news.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090130/ap_on_re_us/illinois_governor_impeachment_171;_ylt=AuROrnpc44uBAZ5CbBzNz_.pR5Z4

Favorite Lines:

1. The crisis paralyzed state government and made Blagojevich and his helmet of lush, dark hair a punchline from coast to coast.

2. Blagojevich’s name and picture were promptly stripped from the state’s official Web site, and his photo was removed from a display at the Capitol entrance. Quinn also canceled Blagojevich’s security detail.

3. He likened himself to the hero of a Frank Capra movie and to a cowboy in the hands of a Wild West lynch mob.

Kentucky is now Narnia

As J has mentioned, the ice storm that occurred Tuesday and Wednesday has rendered Louisville into a scene from The Chronicles of Narnia. This, however, does not make it any easier to drive in. We were lucky that we have power. Over 650,000 other people are not so lucky. We also have cable and internet. Thank goodness for small favors. I was off work Tuesday and Wednesday and it was much needed. As much as I hate to drive in snow and ice, we needed that together time.

So I have now met with two photographers and one more to go for tomorrow. I am so excited about this wedding, I am jumping out of my seat. I want to be Mrs. Valentine so bad it’s killing me. But I’m happy that it’s less than a year.

Also for those who love yogurt or who think it’s just so-so, Yoplait’s new flavors are amazing. I’ve only had one but I have a feeling that the others are just as good. Apple Turnover Yogurt. You won’t regret it.

I hope you are staying warm wherever you are. Pray that the ice and snow doesn’t affect J and I too bad.

Things I’ve learned from my first 48 hours with our new dog

1. I worry about him way more than I thought I would.
2. I’m a big softie.
3. Dogs really do chase their tails.
4. Adult dogs are way easier than puppies.
5. Training takes a long time.
6. Getting a rescue feels really really good.
7. Big brown eyes are hard to say no to.
8. Picking up dog p00p isn’t as bad as I thought it was.
9. Consistency is the key.
10. If this is even a glimpse of what having a kid is like, we’re in for a wild ride.

Everybody, say hi to Toby.

So we got a new dog.  Toby is awesome!  we  got him from the Kentucky Humane Society.  He’ll be 3 on April the 19th.  He’s really really playful but he knows how to wind down and chill at night which is good.  I’m keeping him in the crate for the time being until we make sure he’s totally housebroken but no accidents yet /crossing fingers.  Well world, meet Toby.

Happy Inauguration Day!

So of course, as everybody knows, this is the big day. This is the day that I was so excited for. The day that my whole family has been waiting for. And I forgot to take the day off… But no matter, I will watch the ceremonies at work and be just as happy. I am so excited to see how happy my parents are. My mom and older sister are freezing in Washington right now but I would love to be with them. I just can’t express the joy that I have right now.

I believe in Barack Obama. No, he won’t be perfect. But I believe in him nonetheless. So happy inauguration day! And each celebrate in their own way.

Yes PeCan!

So today is a good day. I’m at work, grooving to Lalah Hathaway (Donny Hathaway’s daughter who is extremely talented, go get it!) eating lunch and talking to J. Even though I would rather it be the weekend, I think life is pretty good right now.

My mother and older sister are going to Washington this weekend to attend the inauguration of the first African-American president. I don’t think I have ever seen my parents so happy. I’m glad that they were given a chance to see it. I think only African-Americans can truly understand the significance of what is happening. Other races may recognize it, but to truly understand it as an African-American is mind-blowing. It’s a deep feeling deep in your soul. Let’s just say that I wish I was going but I’ll have to live vicariously. Thank you President-elect Obama 🙂 (Man, when will spellchecker stop trying to correct that man’s name!)

But Ben and Jerry’s has come up with a great way to commemorate the inauguration:

Yes PeCAN Ice Cream

Celebrate America’s opportunity for positive change with “Yes PeCAN” in participating Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops in January.

That’s awesome 🙂 Watch on Tuesday, you’ll regret it if you don’t 🙂

Interesting Word of The Day

I get a word of the day in my email and every now and then I get an interesting one. Here’s one below that applies to J or I (sorry J :p)

xanthous \ZAN-thuhs\, adjective:

yellow; yellowish

King Elvis, who is not quite alert today, bares his rockin’ soul on “Geraldo,” yelling Michael Jackson’s very unique, xanthous features complement zany daughter LisaMarie Presley.
— The Atlantic, 1995-07-14

by 1829, from Greek xanthos “yellow,” of unknown origin. Prefix form xantho- is used in many scientific words
